Dealing with employees and next of kin
- provide your employees with information about the incident and the organisation's response, where appropriate
- direct any approaches made by the media to the designated incident management (IM) team member dealing with media relations (see Media relations)
- advise employees not to discuss the incident with the media, and to direct any media approaches to the designated IM team member (see Media relations)
- do not release details of those killed or injured until their next of kin have been informed
- consider whether you need to communicate with trade unions
