Take steps to recover any lost information

Information created after the latest back up of the systems may have been lost as a result of the IT systems failure.

Review the backup archives and procedures to identify the scope of the lost data and consider whether you are able to recover this information.

Where the IT systems are outsourced, the outsource provider may be obliged to try to recover any lost information. Where this is not the case, or where the IT systems are provided internally, you will need to consider whether to attempt to recover the lost data. This will depend on the quantity of the information and its importance to you, your customers and/or your suppliers.
