"Whois" search to gather information about the website or domain name
“Whois” is an online search tool that you can use to find out about a domain name. Information available under “Whois” may include the domain name owner, their address, the date of registration and the owner’s IP address. It is not possible to find out this information for all domain names, as some are registered by third party providers in order to keep this information confidential.
“Whois” searches can be carried out via http://www.whois.net or http://www.whois-search.com.
Carry out a “Whois” search to determine the details of the fraudulent website/domain name’s host.
In particular, keep a record of the identities of the registrant, the registrar, the nameserver host, the registration date and the administrative and technical contacts of the fraudulent website or domain name.
